Summer glimpse II
It's been another month and not much blogging. But that's because I was busy GETTING MARRIED and having half of Denmark visit in Alaska. 23 wonderful Danes came to celebrate James and I. About a 150 Alaskans joined them on July 5th for our backyard, garden wedding. It was a beautiful, sunny, dry, Alaskan summer day when they are best. We had a short ceremony officiated by a good friend (all Alaskan residents can officiate weddings), followed by a buffet organized by another good friend and my mom, followed by toasts from both Danes and Alaskans mastered by a third wonderful friend, followed by two awesome local bands that have recorded in our studio and include many good friends, all accompanied by plenty of drinks, dancing and celebrating. It was a day full of so much love that I will never be able to express it in words. I can only say that it was perfect, we were so very happy and we are so very lucky to have so many wonderful people in our community: locally and globally. I have many great recommendations to give to anyone who is thinking of throwing a 150 people garden wedding - feel free to ask me anything about how we made it happen. One brilliant thing we did was to have a photo booth (a big box of hats and boas and a background choice of an old car or stacked wood) and a photographer friend take photos of anyone and everyone who gathered and posed in various groups and couples. It was a hilarious thing for people to do during the party, it spread out the guest so not everyone were standing at the bar or stage, and people had SO MUCH fun with it. Here is an example with me and some damn fine ladies of Fairbanks + Brad
