New addition

I have purposefully not blogged for a while because I had a hard time thinking of topics other than my growing belly, and I wasn't quite ready to share it with you yet. However I believe the time has come. I'm pregnant. 17 weeks today. Danish Alaskan baby arriving in late January 2016. J and I are super excited and only a little scared.
I did not have the easiest first trimester (who does?) because I had the pleasure of a sub chorionic hematoma (hæmatom in Danish) which means a lot of bleeding. A lot. Not spotting, hemorrhaging. There is no treatment for it except wait patiently and rest up. If you know me you know I'm not a very patient person so it has been challenging and stressful. I spent most of this summer sitting/lying down at home or at work. The few times I have tried to leave Fairbanks there have been clear protests from my belly. So I gave up trying. It's okay because pregnancy can actually take up all of your mental space and keep you distracted from whatever you might be missing out on. Baby bubble is a real thing...
Im fairly (because again you can't really know for sure) sure that I'm over the hard part of this hematoma business and if nothing else it has taught me to appreciate all the normal pregnancy symptoms tremendously. Raging hormones and ligament pains = NORMAL = AWESOME.
I have started eight baby knitting projects already, scrolled through Amazons' very disappointing baby gear, read four hilariously contradictory pregnancy books, changed shampoo four times so far and cursed over America's non-existent poison free lotion market a few times already. I hope to update you more on all of this, what I'm learning and how I'm growing (mentally and physically) over the next months.
