25+ weeks
Whew, a
month flew by. I had two snow storms, 5 days of no electricity due to snow
storm number two, a traveling husband, a lot of mud and wiping of dog paws, 40-hour work weeks, a couple of music gigs, some yoga, and of course a growing
belly to keep me occupied.
Hitting the
six month pregnancy mark seems to shake things up a bit. Belly is growing a lot
and I am hungry A LOT. I eat my breakfast at 7.15 am and at 9 am I am ready for
breakfast number two. Since I haven’t quite adjusted to this I end up eating my
lunch around 9.30 am, which then leads to extreme hunger around 11 am and no
food. That leaves the pregnant woman trying to decide what to eat for lunch and
where to drive to pick-up this food at noon in a town where everyone goes out for
lunch and lines can be long. This does not sit well with the pregnant woman
who gets very angry and fairly lightheaded. She finally manages to get some
food, eat it in the car while driving back to work and returning to the office
at 1 pm to realize that there is another four hours until the work day is done
and all she has in her office is an old granola bar and some salted nuts.
At 5 pm she
is finally done with the work day and heads to the grocery store to buy enough
food for this to not happen again tomorrow. The grocery store can be an
overwhelming experience after a long day of work and a pregnant nose that
smells EVERYTHING three times as intensely as non-pregnant people. Somehow 45
minutes of strolling around Fred Meyer only results in a dinner menu, two
bananas, a bag of frozen quinoa and kale and 4 packs of Magnum Almond Ice cream
bars.
Tomorrow
will be better. I am determined. I’ll make a list.
