The pregnancy crew and other anecdotes from November

November disappeared somehow. In a great white dump of snow, a growing belly, lots of time at the office, coffee drinking with my pregnancy crew, time spent knitting and of course Thanksgiving.
We just had four days of for Thanksgiving which was amazing but also kind of like tasting a forbidden fruit and then have it be taken away by Monday morning and the return to work. However I can't complain about work because my title changed dramatically this Monday morning as I officially went from Youth Specialist to Project Director. I am so excited to take on the role as Director and quite proud to land the job in my third trimester.
You might have wondered about the aforementioned pregnancy crew, which i think deserves an explanation: I have a friend from Germany who got pregnant five weeks before me and a friend from Finland who got pregnant four weeks after me. All three of us knocked up by Alaskan men. James likes to refer to future conversations about how babies are made by saying: "You get a European woman and an Alaskan man...". In addition I have met a French girl who is pregnant and due at the same time as me and another German friend with a 9 months old - also knocked up by Americans. We meet for coffee once a week to discuss our growing bellies and Alaskan baby-daddies-to-be. In all seriousness it is wonderful to have someone to talk to about the cultural differences we are dealing with when it comes to pregnancy, birth, childrearing, gender roles, future bilingual kids, dual citizenships, American vaccines and the list goes on.
Last, I just want to wish you all a belated happy Thanksgiving and a happy first Sunday in Advent!
