Memorial Day 2015

It's Memorial Day in America today. It's a day of from work; something I can very much enjoy now as a full time jobber. J is away, working at Trapper Creek festival. For the first time in 5 years I decided to not go with him. I can't believe I've gone for 5 years straight considering that I actually don't like the culture surrounding the festival or the many drugs being consumed by its people. Why did I keep coming back? It seemed I had developed a tradition of going and figured out a way to enjoy a fairly strange environment. Mostly I just pretended I was camping and went to bed with earplugs in a locked car when the crazies really got going. My usual style of being there without quite participating. It's something I do quite well. Staying at the periphery; observing; remaining critical some might say skeptical. I think going to Trapper Creek was a way of pushing myself beyond my comfort zone. A way to be reminded of all that I have and appreciate. So I actually miss it now that I'm not there. I miss the road trip south, my locked camp car, the crazies, the live music and all the people I have come to appreciate at Trapper Creek in my own (critical) way.
So in honor of Memorial Day I remember all of my years at Trapper Creek. Here are a couple of photos from over the years and a music video from Saucy Yoda - a very popular Trapper Creek Band.

Pretty handsome fella, if you ask me!
